The Division of Extractive Metallurgy provides production of engineering materials from raw materials obtained from nature, byproducts of industrial production and waste or scrap materials.

Pyro-metallurgy, hydro-metallurgy and electro-metallurgy, which are main extractive metallurgy techniques, analyze, use and develop the physical and chemical processes required for the production process. Extractive metallurgy studies are based on ore dressing, pretreatment, fundamental processes, thermodynamics, kinetics, chemical process design and modelling. The products of these processes are; primary metals such as iron, steel, ferroalloys, copper, lead, zinc, tin, and nickel, secondary metals such as arsenic, antimony, bismuth, cadmium, mercury and cobalt, light metals such as beryllium, magnesium, aluminum and titanium, precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum group metals, refractory metals such as tungsten, molybdenum, niobium, zirconium, tantalum, hafnium, vanadium and rhenium, semiconductors such as germanium, gallium, indium, thallium, selenium, and tellurium, radioactive metals such as uranium, thorium and plutonium, rare-earth elements, ferroalloy metals such as chromium, manganese, silicon and boron, alkali metals such as lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium and cesium, new generation materials and traditional and high technology ceramics.

Our division plans the products and processes due to the national recommendations with the local, global, economical, commercial and strategical objectives and fulfills the quality and accreditation expectations.
